Founder and owner of Horizon Home Funding, Dave Murray has successfully worked in the mortgage industry since 1990. Since then, he has closed thousands of mortgage loans totaling millions in volume.
In 1995, Dave founded Horizon Home Funding with a low-overhead, high-tech, customer-centric business model. In fact, he was one of the first mortgage brokers in Central Florida to offer lap-top originations in realtors’ offices. He continues that same degree of customer service today by handling all processing for his clients and serving as their primary point of contact.
Dave began his mortgage career at a national mortgage banking firm where he consistently ranked in the top three loan officers each year. In 1991 and 1994, he was recognized as the “Loan Officer of the Year.”
A Central Florida resident since 1971, Dave attended the University of Central Florida on a basketball scholarship where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1984.
He lives in Lake Forest with his wife and two daughters and is an active member of his community.

Armed with an extensive background in marketing and public relations, Karen Phillips brings a unique perspective to her role as a licensed mortgage broker for Horizon Home Funding.
The cornerstone of her successful career is an unwavering commitment to customer service, with a keen eye toward meeting deadlines and exceeding expectations. Her experience creating high-profile public education campaigns – from concept development to materials production – provides an added value to the real estate community as she works to educate clients about their financial options.
As a marketer, Phillips’ work has been recognized through more than 20 regional and national awards for public education campaigns, customer service initiatives and copywriting.
An active member of the community, Karen serves as Vice President of Public Relations for the Central Florida Chapter of the American Marketing Association, is active with the Girl Scouts of Citrus Council, holds a leadership position within her church and has spearheaded numerous community initiatives.
Karen graduated with a Bachelor of Science in journalism and a minor in marketing from Texas A&M University in 1987.
